8 Useful Websites and Resources You Probably don’t Know About.

The Internet has a lot of useful resources, websites and applications that would help make your life easier. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find them, even using Google.

So, here are a few of the websites and services I found very useful, but which are hard to find (they’ve been recommended by my friends). I’m sure you can put them to good use.

  • 1. Unlock-PDF.com. If you have a few PDF files that you really need to print or edit, but you can not because they’re locked, this site is what you need! As the name dictates, it will unlock any PDF file you supply. It will not however, unlock the PDF files which are password-protected and can not be opened at all (as that would be considered cracking).
  • 2. SeekLogo. If you are looking for a sample logo for your project (or if you are a logo designer), Seek Logo will definitely make your task easier. It will search through a database of over 200,000 logos, all of which are in vector formats, which means you can resize them as you wish (and avoid the “image too small to be useful” problem).
  • 3. TunesBag. If you love the music in your playlist so much (or you are a DJ or music producer) that you literally can’t go anywhere without it and you often forget your iPod or break it :-) , you can use TunesBag, a service that will allow you to upload your entire music collection to their storage space so you can download or listen to it anytime, anywhere (provided you have an Internet connection). You can also use it to share your playlist with other people.
  • 4. PokeTalk. At first I thought it’s related to Pokemon, the popular kids cartoon, but no, it’s a service that allows you to call and SMS any number in over 55 countries… absolutely free! Now, I’m using Skype, and while it is free to talk to other users, it does require money for calling to landline phones (though its much cheaper than standard phone companies). I still don’t understand how PokeTalk can afford free calls and messages, but I really like it!
  • 5. ConvertHub. If you’re looking for an easy way to convert you images and photos to other formats, look no further, as ConvertHub.com is the only service you’ll need. It can convert all popular formats (and a few special ones) between them and it’s really easy to use.
  • 6. Lingt. If you always wanted to learn a new language, but found the traditional methods boring and too complicated, Lingt.com is here to try and help you. Their innovative method of language learning is fun, efficient and free! Plus, you can do it from your home, office, or even beach (if you have a laptop with an Internet connection).
  • 7. Springer Exemplar. If you don’t know the meaning of a word or want to find synonyms, what do you do? I usually go to Google.com and type “define:word”, but sometimes that is not enough, as I need to see the word in proper sentences to get a grasp on how it’s used in real life. SpringerExemplar.com does exactly that: shows you sentences, phrases and real-world usage examples of the word you need.
  • 8. ClassicCat. If you like classical music, you’ll be surprised to know you don’t need to pay for it. Yes, all the great music of the past is in the public domain and you are free to download and listen to it anytime. The only problem is finding it. This is where ClassicCat.net (which probably stands for Classic Catalog) comes into play. It is an online directory of free classic music download sources, and all the songs that can be listed have a minimum bitrate requirement of 128kbps, which means all the songs are in great quality.

I hope you find the above links and websites useful. They sure help me a lot everyday, and I don’t know what I would do without them now.
