AT&T Merges With Openstack To Introduce Mobile Developer Cloud Service

AT&T says its developer-focused cloud solution will launch in the next few days

In a press release recently, the US based telecommunications organization AT&T announced they had joined forces with OpenStack, the cloud service provider, to enhance their offers. According to the VP and chief stacker at OpenStack, Jim Curry, the added support from AT&T will allow the company to move in a favorable direction.

The chief technology officer, John Donovan recently made a post on his blog regarding this partnership, “We’ve been participating in OpenStack for more than a year and have already contributed a blueprint for a potential new function within OpenStack, focused on transactional task management. We’re housing our OpenStack capabilities on dedicated infrastructure in three AT&T data centers today, with locations in Dallas, San Diego and Secaucus, New Jersey. We plan to more than double the number of our centers with open-source capabilities in 2012.”

The telecommunications organization also introduced cloud based services for mobile developers recently. According to Donovan, the move was taken to provide cloud requirements for developers who need faster, flexible and affordable solutions to create services. The service allows them to do all that and provides them the reliability and stability enterprise customers enjoy.

Called ‘Cloud Architect’, the new service will be made accessible in a few weeks and will enable developers to ‘build from the ground’ using dedicated server options or metal. Besides this, they will also be able to scale apps at a faster rate and use an online portal to make requests for new services. At&T has also announced that it will be making improvements in its cloud solutions throughout the year.
