These are few things that you need to consider when designing a site.
1. Avoid excessive advertising
Ads may create income to your site especially if you’re part of affiliate marketing but excessive advertising can be harmful and may discourage people from revisiting your site. To avoid repetitive and excessive ads, you should place these ads in locations where they can easily be observed but not too visually distracting.
2. Make the site easy to navigate
The site should have no broken links and easy to navigate. If visitors can’t find things they want, chances are they will never visit your site again, make sure that all links and information are arranged in predictable locations
3. Avoid excessive pop-ups
Too many pop-up can be really attracting to your visitors. They may become dismayed and got annoyed really quickly when there are too many pop ups on the screen.
4. Avoid loud music
Music can be fun but unless your site sells music-related products or services don’t use loud music in the site.
Each visitor has unique music preferences and not everyone will appreciate your favorite songs even if it’s a recent hit song. So it may be a better idea to have a mute site. But if you really wish to put music, you should avoid any brassy tune as this could annoy your audience and prompt them to leave the site immediately.
5. Repetitive graphics
Graphics is crucial in creating a visually pleasing web site but you need to make sure that you’re using just a moderate amount of images. Only use good quality images that are related directly to your web site to avoid confusions among visitors.
6. Use the right font size and style
Reading from a printed material is usually different from reading a digital document on a computer screen so you need to consider the best font size. You may find websites that use really tiny fonts to save spaces but doing so often affect the overall readability. Remember, people tend to skim and don’t really read.
7. Informative and rich content
Visitors are looking for informative and rich contents. No matter how gorgeous your site is, but if it fails to offer engaging contents, it will look bland and empty. You should offer new and updated contents to attract new visitors.
8. Color
The color of your text and images should blend well. Don’t use contrasting background colors and text colors, which can be eye straining to your audience.
