Hetzner Online Takes Away the GreenIT Best Practices Award 2011



 November 25, 2011-Hetzner Online (www.hetzner.com) won the “GreenIT Best Practice Award”, at a conference held by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, for giants from the industry o present their initiatives and ideas on Green IT solutions.

The award was meant to be presented for ideas and solutions that would lead to energy saving and efficient operations for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Hetzner is a web hosting firm and a data center mechanist. It won the award for the category “Energy-efficient IT Systems”.

Federal Government Commissioner for IT, Cornelia Rogall-Grothe and Parliamentary Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Hans-Joachim Otto gave away the prize. The event was organized in Berlin, at the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

Leading the panel of judges was Dr. Hans-Joachim Popp of the German Aerospace Center. There were a total of 100 applications submitted for 3 award categories. Dr. Hans chose the top 27 and later 11 companies made it to the final judgment.

What caught the judges’ attention was Htezner’s data center park, which is creatively engineered and cleverly built to support efficient use of energy resources and direct cooling system.
