In an announcement made this week, web host Hivelocity revealed, it has released a new management portal for customer support, named myVelocity. The preview of the new portal was revealed on twitter, few weeks ago.
The portal was released for the public, after it underwent 3 weeks of preview creation and beta testing.
MyVelocity is nothing like the previous tech support. In fact, the interface is pretty simple; take for example Google’s Gmail and Twitter’s neat look. A preview of the new portal is available on the Hivelocity website, for non-customers to view.
The screenshots interface looks very much like Gordon Freeman’s hosting account, fictional scientist and the central character of the Half Life video game sequence.
According to Hivelocity, the system was created by the company’s development team and offers customer a variety of features like account and server management tools, monitoring, bills and payment, tech support and others.
The portal also comprises of an “extensive server knowledge base”, as stated on the company website.
The portal was developed after several months of research on the features and tools customers require, as said by the company.
Steve Eschweiler, Hivelocity General Manager said in the press release, “some of our competitors have good looking portals but don’t have many tools to offer customers, others have a ton of features but the interface is a maze of mess. myVelocity takes the best of both worlds and empowers our customers with a ton of tools while looking beautiful and clean at the same time. We believe myVelocity will be the new standard for hosting portals.”
Hivelocity stated, it is already preparing for an update of the support portal, which will be launched sometime in December and will include an affiliate program, messaging features and a DNS manager.
