Guess this was around for quite some time, even when we were eking out the review for say, the “Host that Thinks”. FatCow, has revamped its site and have come up with an idea to make that strategic shift towards clean and green energy. While the other hosts are just trying hard how to increase their servers and their scalability, FatCow has taken its power systems and straight winded up in to using Renewable Energy Certificates supplied by the energy marketer and developer Community Energy Inc.
That would supply their entire 4, 412,000 kWh of RECs. Well, as for us the users what does that shift really mean. Most of the countries are imposing hard core strings attached guidelines and policies for the companies to adopt the Green logo. Willing or not, but the hosts might try to unload the strings on to us.
As the world’s nations are gearing up for the Copenhagen summit in December to discuss the Global Warming and other climate issues plaguing our planet and to come up with a plan to keep things in check and try to enforce stringent measures against those called ungreen companies, we would soon find many other hosting companies following suit and trying to reduce their carbon footprints.
