McAfee Report Uncovers Management Unawareness about Data Center Security

During the recent findings of McAfee, it is revealed that administration is unacquainted of defense and security measures of its data centers.

Current analytical  survey, by Gabriel Consulting Group, has presented a surprising fact about disengagement of IT enterprise security supervisors with data center security awareness and this unplayful character of management is entitled as a “serious disconnect” between the two entities.

The results, compiled on a range of data center enterprises comprising almost 147 data center managers, show 22 percent awareness of security staff about their prospective security duties and responsibilities.

“It’s astounding that almost two-thirds of our respondents say that their management is in the dark about their true security status,” Dan Olds, principal analyst at Gabriel Consulting Group, said in a statement. “This is something that should cause a lot of thought both in the executive suite and in the data center. Management needs to seek out the truth when it comes to IT security, and data center management needs to be frank and honest when discussing the strengths and weaknesses of their security mechanisms. Obviously, it’s far better to discuss potential security issues before they’re exposed by a breach.”

The results of the survey report also reveal that almost half of the participants have considered security as their first priority for cloud platforms and for virtualized data centers; but, at the same time, a big lot consider that latest cloud security techniques and other similar security methods are enough, providing effective security system for meeting the corporeal needs.

40 percent of the replies, regarding enterprise security conduct, confirm that implied security in enterprises is not essentially combating the dangers; other 40 percent replies report that routine security is not according to what it is stated in the enterprise documented security policies.

“The move to virtualized data center requires organizations to consider their approach to security early in the design cycle,” Greg Brown, Vice President of network security at McAfee, said in a statement. “Using network and system security solutions that are optimized for virtualized environments ensures continuity of data center operations, without interfering with performance. McAfee’s solutions provide seamless security management across conventional and virtualized data center resources.”

The survey findings also give an idea that roughly 70 percent of the security officers discredit public cloud security. Besides McAfee recent launches, McAfee cloud security platform has been released for providing significant public cloud security to its potential customers.
