NEC to Enhance Security for CA Technologies via the Cloud

The NEC Corporation and CA Technologies recently shook hands as the former offered a sturdy and customizable security solution to the latter as a cloud service. The offer will enable operators and content providers with a robust security solution to fulfill the requirements of multiple smart devices.

The move comes at a time when smartphone culture has boomed across the world. As more and more people incorporate their business identities via their smart devices, securing their online presence while on the go becomes their topmost priority. Additionally, many users have a number of devices and gadgets such as these to work with. This is also why online security agencies need to streamline their privacy services via a sturdy verification system that will enable each user to be rest assured knowing their online identity is in safe hands.

“Mobility increases the complexity of security and how to control access and use of services and applications,” said Shigeru Okuya, Vice President and Senior General Manager, Carrier Services Operations Unit of NEC Corporation. “When we set out to deliver a cloud service for our customers that made security transparent and easy for their end-users, we chose CA Technologies. The company protects more than 150 million identities with its authentication technology and does it with combined convenience and security – something demanded by customers and end-users.”

By combining the ArcotID® secure software with NEC’s NC7000-3A ID utilization infrastructure software along with the NEC Mobile Security, the cloud offer allows users to secure their identity through a number of NEC sites. The first will secure online presence via an easy two-factor verification thus providing clients with both ease of use and strong privacy. In other words, the new feature will enhance online security and at the same time allow users to create services by using numerous identities with the verification system.

“We are excited to be working with NEC to solve this growing security challenge in the market,” said Ram Varadarajan, General Manager for CA Arcot Security solutions, CA Technologies. “With a proven track record in providing advanced authentication solutions delivered on premise and as a cloud service, CA Technologies solutions are designed with mobility in mind. We offer several differentiated authentication options for mobile applications and devices including one-time-password and PKI based solutions.”

The service is to be launched in March in approximately 30 countries across the world. According to NEC professionals, the leading clients will be telecommunication operatives and smartphone/tablet security providers.
