Online Tech, the web hosting provider, recently revealed that it has managed to achieve SOC 2 and SOC 3 compliance for Michigan data centers. Each independently passed an online audit pertaining to the requirements and managed to achieve the highest data center standards that a data center can ever get. Their success has labeled them as a reputable company that has prime security, accessibility, confidentiality, and processing integrity.
The successful data center also managed to complete HIPAA and SSAE 16 audits this year along with the abovementioned audit. A webinar series pertaining to HIPPAA compliance was also hosted by Online Tech in October. The news comes a few weeks after the web host hosted an open house at its newly minted Ann Arbor, Michigan data center.
The SOC 2 and SOC 3 allowed a stringent audit to take place including the use of a stronger control system and requirements particular to data center service organizations. These provided a set standard against which data centers could be compared with each other. In comparison with a SSAE 16 audit, in which the judging standard is set by the data center operator, the SOC 2 uses set and pre-defined control criteria. This includes standards of security, availability, processing integrity and privacy of a system along with its functions.
“SOC 2 and SOC 3 are welcome standards to our industry,” Mike Klein, president of Online Tech said in a statement. “They raise the bar for service organizations and allow the best to shine with these much harder standards of compliance. Clients seeking data center operators that employ best-practices day-in and day-out will get what they’ve been looking for – a standard, more objective benchmark against which to compare options.”
