RegistryPro, the .PRO domain manager, made an announcement on Friday revealing they had started an auction of their one-of-a-kind one, two and three character domain names. The bidding war can be taken part in at Go Daddy till Tuesday, January 17th of this year for seven days. The auction will start off at $50 for name extensions like 1.pro, Go.pro, 3D.pro and Job.pro.
According to the President of the company, Karim Jiwani, “There has never been a better time to register .PRO domains and we are pleased to auction a sample of our most highly sought after names. Everyone knows the value of a short domain name and we are happy to give the professional public the opportunity to bid on these great .PRO names.”
Since .PRO names can only be registered with an authentic professional identity, they are used widely by renowned enterprises in the online business community. To enter, they need to supply their authentic contact information along with professional certification for submission. Additionally, each member will be susceptible to online monitoring and surveillance as well.
Initiating in 2004, RegistryPro put forward .PRO 2.0 last year in November and has witnessed a large increase in registration numbers since. According to Paul Nicks, Director of Product Development for Go Daddy, “Domain names are like 21st century real estate – it’s important to get your place on the Internet. The .PRO auction will allow many professionals the chance for some prime Internet property.”
