The UK based web hosting provider, Stratogen, recently revealed that it had expanded its cloud hosting services to serve the United States as well. The company introduced its SHARP cloud based services a year ago, for customers wishing to create virtual data centers, firewalls, networks and virtual machines via a web-based portal. Partnering with VMware, Stratogen uses HP Blade servers to build vSphere 5.0 clusters. It also utilizes disc space, courtesy of NetApp SAN units.
According to a blog post by the company, the course of action was taken amidst several requests from US based clients. However, it also discovered that a large portion of the US clientele do not want to avail its hosting services beyond their borders. The hosting organization supplied clusters spanning its London, Denver and Colorado data centers, to enable transatlantic data duplication for disaster recoveries.
The Sales Director of StratoGen, Karl Robinson, had this to say, “We are bringing some real innovations to shake up the cloud hosting market in the US. Our VMware hosting platform gives you the ability to go way beyond simply hosting virtual machines – you can build and configure firewalls, create routed or internal networks, vApps and much more from a single user interface. Speaking on the Cisco firewall induced clusters, Robinson also added, “We’ve taken a no compromise approach to the build -out of our VMware Hosting platform. Based on our extensive experience with these enterprise class components in Europe, I’m confident the performance levels and stability of the platform will exceed those of competing services in the US. As always, the StratoGen team of VMware qualified support staff will be available 24/7.”
StratoGen has also revealed a 25% discount on all its cloud based hosting services. Customers can avail the offer till January 31st, 2012.
