In an announcement made on Wednesday, Eleven, German based email security service firm, revealed the results of its survey, which shows, companies in Germany will spend in email security due to constant fear of online threats like malware and spam etc.
The survey was held during early November, where Eleven questioned the IT investors in German companies.
Out of all the companies that were surveyed, 38.5% said that, number of spam threats have remained constant in 2011, even after the elimination of Rustock botnet in March,16.5% claimed that spam threats have actually increased since then, while 35.6% predict spam levels will rise in the near future. Among the candidates who feared an increase in spam in the coming years, 40% intend to spend on security against such threats.
Amongst all, 27.5% firms intend to purchase email archiving services, although this has been a requirement since 2006, but only 33% of firms have followed the rule.
Among the companies that were surveyed, 90% already have anti-virus and anti-spam installed, while some 14.7% are willing to purchase anti-virus services and 6.4% are willing to avail anti-spam security services.
Another major concern that has alarmed IT investors is, filtering out actual emails and not to confuse them with spam.
Out of the companies that were surveyed, 45% said a strong anti-spam service is to be chosen keeping in mind the predicted rate of spam which is 36.7%, as 47.7% firms said, they had important emails that were detected as spam by the anti-spam software.
Among all 20.2% firms claimed the effects of losing important business emails resulted in decreased productivity and 25.7% said their IT departments were under pressure due to large amounts of spam mail.
Of all the candidates surveyed, only a mere 1% felt email security threats will decrease in the future.
