Go Daddy, the renowned webhosting service provider, revealed remarkable numbers regarding its mobile app this week; worldwide downloads of the application had totaled 500, 000 last year, which quickly went up to 1 million as the new year rolled around. Basically, this new Go Daddy innovation enables iOS, Android and Blackberry users to manage their company domain names straight from their smartphones.

This news comes just a few weeks after the webhost introduced its .ME Scholarship Program for college students. Besides allowing users to manage their domains, the new app also enables them to keep track of their client accounts and email addresses along with storage for new ones.

According to the CEO of Go Daddy, Warren Adelman, “In the next three years, mobile usage is expected to nearly double what it is today. Our strategy has always been to give our customers useful technology they want and need, which is why we built our Go Daddy Mobile App. It gives people the convenience they expect and the time savings they need … when our customers need us, we want to be there immediately.”

The webhost also revealed users will also be privy to a native email client, meant to merge with its storage options; users will be able to send and manage bulky files with this application.

The Mobile Development manager, Dan Casey, had this to say, “The Go Daddy Mobile App is built to be user-friendly and it integrates with all of our Workspace products, like email, online storage and calendar. This means you can manage all of your services through the interface. And of course whenever the inspiration for a great domain name hits, the Mobile App gives customers access — anytime, anywhere.”

Apparently, the application was created and introduced to satisfy a huge client demand for it. Additionally, Go Daddy clients can access the company’s customer service straight from the app as well. Plus, the company’s active blogs and forums allow clients to seek aid from Go Daddy, without any hassle. This is just another amazing achievement in the webhost’s history.

Go Daddy Reveals 2012 Super Bowl Advertising Plans

The web hosting, domain names and SSL Certificate guru GoDaddy.com is set to advertise its eighth Super Bowl broadcast in a row. The renowned website has bought two 30-second slots for the 2012 game; both have been provided a seal of approval from the “Standards and Practices” division of NBC.

GoDaddy’s CEO and founder, Bob Parsons had this to say when asked about the website’s notorious and high profile Super Bowl Ads, “after seven years, we have a good idea about what we can do that works for us and still be approved by censors — we know how to take it right to the very edge.”

This drive, to be different, was apparent in the 2005 Super Bowl, when the web hosting service displayed a “wardrobe malfunction” as one of its promotional ads. The commercial was pulled off the air by FOX on account of it being “out of step with the tenor” of the event. However, excited viewers flocked online to see the full version of their ‘teaser’GoDaddy is also planning on broadcasting two spots in the same year which includes one of the most credited new web addresses online, .Co. The venues for the commercials are Scottsdale, Arizona and Los Angeles which will also feature Go Daddy girls Danica Pattrick and Jillian Michaels. The NASCAR super star, Danica is going to be in both commercials. This will be her sixth consecutive ad campaign with Go Daddy Productions.

Software Update at GoDaddy Caused Network Outage

KKR and Silver Lake Invest Heavily In Go Daddy

Besides several rumors claiming that the web hosting service provider Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) was going up on the market, the company declared on its website that it had, “signed a definitive agreement to receive a strategic investment and enter into a partnership with KKR, Silver Lake and Technology Crossover Ventures.”

Although the company did not reveal any more information on the investment, publishers, such as the Wall Street Journal, stated that it was more of a purchase than a partnership, of around $2 billion to $2.5 billion, by KKR and Silver Lake.

Reuters also reported on Friday claiming that Go Daddy had indeed been “bought”, for $2.25 billion, along with its liabilities. The founder of the company, Bob Parsons, and the CEO announced “I’ve always said we would make a move like this when the right deal with the right partners could help us do the right thing for our customers and our employees”. They also added to their statement that, “This is it! We are partnering with KKR, Silver Lake and TCV because of their technology expertise, their understanding of web based businesses and because their values align with ours. We believe, together, we will take the company to the next level, especially when it comes to accelerating international growth.”

Founded by Parson in 1996, Go Daddy was one of the largest companies for domain registration and shared hosting. It experienced a good run during the last decade with increasing price competition and perceptive marketing skills, which attracted a lot of attention towards the company.

Although Go Daddy had begun filing papers for an IPO in 2006, market conditions worsened to such an extent that it withdrew. Based on a rumor initiated in the Wall Street Journal, Go Daddy was to go up for sale for approximately $1 billion, in September’ 2010.

If these rumors turn out to be accurate, including those stating that Go Daddy extended the September’ 2010 agreement in order to get a better price, the plan proved to be successful.

The assumptions, which began coming up after the report of its sale last week, seem optimistic about the fact that Go Daddy has a good market for small businesses, which are flourishing in the US, as well as pessimistic, suggesting that the company only deals in low-market services such as shared hosting and domain names.
