In a press release on Tuesday, web hosting provider, NaviSite announced that it has incorporated a series of improvements to its AppVenter cloud management portal. The update was done in a bid to provide clients with enhanced security, management and visibility for their clients.
NaviSite is a service provider which was purchased earlier in the year by Time Warner Cable. The web host offers ‘enterprise class hosting’, application services, along with others.
As per the pronouncement, the reasons for the updates to AppCenter were to improve management and because it was “integral to a successful enterprise cloud deployment.” Clients were also closely worked with in order to make this endeavour successful.
“These latest enhancements to AppCenter will help customers accelerate the deployment and ease the management of their cloud environments,” says Denis Martin, executive vice president and chief technology officer at NaviSite. “Our primary goal is to simplify the management of these increasingly complex IT environments.”
A list of fresh features was also provided in the press release which includes user interface adjustments along with cloud environment techniques. Users can be removed, added and provided different assignments by administrators. They will also be able to gain access to cloud resources via this method. Besides this, advanced cloning abilities will enable users to use more options and settings while cloning groups, subgroups and individual VMs. Additionally they will also be able to speed up or abridge the creation of tests, development, training and production environment.
Other enhancements include new resource instrumentation tools which users can use to control how resources are assigned to higher priority applications at a lower level. This will improve cloud hosting solutions considerably. The Airlock Import Facility enables NaviCloud to load VMs that were made somewhere else too.
